Case Study: Roman Ltd
Roman Limited, specialists in contemporary wetroom design and the UK's market leading shower manufacturer, commissioned FaraPack Polymers to review the current raw materials used to manufacture solid surface shower trays and to look for alternative suppliers. FaraPack successfully identified and sourced a number of the most promising resin materials and prepared a range of formulations incorporating catalysts and accelerators for the curing process. The maximum temperature exotherm is a key factor in the industrial moulding process and as a result the cure exotherms for each formulation were monitored over time to ensure its compatibility with the existing manufacturing process. Samples were then tested for mechanical properties and aesthetic appearance; these results were combined with the cure exotherms and importantly the raw material costs to enable FaraPack Polymers to select an optimum resin formulation for use in Roman's manufacturing process.
"The new resin formulation is now being used in the
manufacturing process for all Roman's own high quality shower
trays and has allowed us to move forward with a greatly reduced
cost base."
